What I do, where I work

I’m currently undertaking a PhD in Management at the University of Canberra, Australia on a topic related to ‘Discovery Rooms’ in museums, their history, philosophy, development and management. The research focuses on ‘Discovery Rooms’ in Australian museums but compares them to examples in North American museums. This project aims to investigate the role of ‘discovery centres’ in museums and how they contribute (or don’t contribute) to the visitor’s museum ‘experience’. The role of ‘Discovery Rooms’ in museums is to be explored within the context of museum management practices and the social, cultural , economic, educational/learning and access factors influencing their development, use and success
