  • What I do, where I work

  • I am a cognitive scientist by training who lost her heart to science education. I work at science center NEMO in Amsterdam, where I conceive and develop interactive exhibitions, multimedia experiences, special public programs (interactive theater) and educational projects. My latest exhibition is TeenFacts, an interactive journey through the science behind puberty and adolescence.

    I am also an independent consultant to various institutions (arts as well as science) and projects on interactive, free-choice learning environments and brain-based learning.

  • I believe in a multidisciplinary and cross-cultural approach to (science) education; one that tries to build bridges between science and art, nature and culture, intellect and emotion, the conventional and the experimental, the ordinary and the extraordinary, the familiar and the strange, the past and the future.

    I am also the author of “Landscapes of Love: An Atlas of the Heart” (2004), a multidisciplinary journey through the science of love, combined with 24 imaginary maps that chart love’s elusive landscapes.
