The Artistic Gymnastic form at the commonwealth games features both men and women performing feats of skills, fitness, concentration, and flexibility.
At the Artistic Gymnastic, the athletes perform the athletics forms of leaping, twirling, and flying across various apparatus. The points are given to the athletes by the judges based on these acts.
The Artistic sports program at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games is scheduled to take place at Arena Birmingham. Following events and artistic tobe will take place at the upcoming games
• Balance Beam
Balance Beam event only comprises women athletes, where athletes need to perform on a suede–clad beam measuring 10 cm in width and 5 meters in length. It consists of 90 seconds of routine acts followed by turns, leaps, and other gravity-defying acrobatic elements.
• Uneven Bars
In this event, women compete on a pair of flexible fiberglass bars positioned 2.5 meters high from the ground. It is an amazing performance featuring balanced handstands, flying transitions, and swings between the bars.
• Rings
Rings is the male-only event where competitors have to perform on an 18 cm suspended ring that tests the strength and gripping of the upper body. The act includes controlled swings, static positions, and handstands.
• Pommel Horse
It is a favorite event for spectators where gymnasts perform on a padded horse with two sturdy handles. It also comprises technical acts which include turns, handstands, in a combination of whirling of straight legs and pointed feet in a circular motion.
• Vault
In the Vault Gymnastic event, both men and women compete which is an act built upon speed in a sprint. Gymnasts perform on the springboard, vaulting over the platform with their hands first. It requires flexibility where gymnasts complete flips and twists, finally landing in a stable and upright position on the ground.
The Artistic sports event made its debut at the 1990 Auckland, New Zealand commonwealth games, where Canadian athletes have dominated the game with a total of 143 medals.
2. Rhythmic
Rhythmic Gymnastics sports event is an excellent and mesmerizing form where athletes perform free-flowing and flawless movements with precise and controlled routines.
At the 2022 Commonwealth Games, Rhythmic Gymnastics will be performed across four apparatus Ball, Clubs, Hoop, and Ribbon. At the 1998 Men’s Artistic Gymnastics, Australia’s Andrei Kravstov won 4 gold medals ( Men’s Individual all-round, Parallel Bars, and Floor Pommel), and 1 silver medal in Men’s Artistic Team.
